Comprehensive ESG and GHG management and reporting solutions for credibility, simplicity, compliance and performance

Why this training

Financed emissions, the greenhouse gas emissions attributed to an organisation's lending, investment and insurance activities, are now central to climate risk management, regulatory disclosure and target setting across the financial sector.

Many staff being asked to take on responsibility for this area have had no formal training in it. This series starts from first principles, explains technical terms in plain language as they are introduced, and moves through definitions, calculation methods, sector-specific application, target setting, and worked practice, in that order.

Two ways to take this training

1. Courses only.

Purchase e-learning access for the team members who need it. Each course is self-directed, with full reading material included, so it can be worked through independently or used by your own facilitator.

2. The full training package.

For organisations that want a structured rollout across a wider team, the package includes five facilitated workshops, delivered by one of Veriport's trusted training partners, e-learning access for your whole team, not only workshop attendees, and course notes for all five modules, for use as an ongoing reference.

Pricing assumes one sector pathway module.

What's covered

The series has five modules once a sector pathway is chosen. Three sector pathway options are available; most organisations select the one matching their core activity.

  • Foundations and purpose (40 minutes)
What financed emissions are, why we measure them, and how the main standards fit together.

  • Methodologies and quantification (40 minutes)
How financed emissions are actually calculated.

  • Sector pathway module (15 to 20 minutes)
Choose banking, private equity/venture capital/infrastructure, or real estate.

  • Metrics, KPIs and target setting (40 minutes)
Turning a calculated figure into a managed target.

  • Putting it into practice (45 to 60 minutes)
Worked exercises and a full case study, end to end.

Full details of each module, including learning objectives, are in the downloadable course guide.

The facilitated workshops

Each of the five modules has a corresponding MS Teams workshop, run by one of Veriport's trusted training partners.

Workshops work through the same material as the e-learning course, using the facilitator discussion prompts and worked examples included in the course notes, with the opportunity to ask questions and apply the material to your own organisation's data.

Workshops are delivered virtually or in selected regions in-person, and are typically run in five-parts over a schedule agreed with your organisation.

Who it's for

Banks and other lenders, asset managers, private equity, venture capital and infrastructure investors, insurers, development finance institutions, and the ESG, risk and compliance teams that support them.

No prior background in carbon accounting or financial reporting is assumed.

Pricing and next steps

Pricing depends on team size, whether you choose courses only or the full training package, and which sector pathway module you select.
